The Royal Court of Justice

Many people  don’t know what The Royal Court of Justice is. They don’t know where it is, at what time it is open, what can we see inside and what the history of this place is. In this short text I will answer all these kinds of questions.

The Royal Court of Justice is the building which contains two courts: Administrative Tribunal and Supreme Court in England and in Wales. It is located on Strand in City of Westminster near City of London. The construction began in 1873. The Court was designed by George Edmund Street. During the construction, the workers organized the strike, so the work was stopped. For this reason The Royal Court of Justice was completed by the German employees. Finally, The Court was opened by the Queen Victoria in 1882.

When we visit The Court we can see wonderful sculptures, a lot of marble galleries and awesome figures of Salomon and Alfred the Great.  The Royal Court of Justice is one of the highest courts in Europe. It is open from Monday to Friday  between 10:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. , but on Saturdays and Sundays it is closed. Tickets cost 10 pounds for children and 13 pounds for adults.

Visiting this place will be an unforgettable experience, especially for those interested in English culture and tradition.

Royal Courts of Justice

The Royal Courts of Justice is a courthouse built in the 1870s in the Victorian Gothic style. The official opening was held in 1882 by Queen Victoria. The building measures 140 by 140 m and is 75 m high. 12 architects took part in the competition for the design of the seat of the court, the competition procedure lasted 2 years, and the construction and equipment of the facility for another eight years. The British bricklayers' strike was responsible for this delay. The entire cost of building the court exceeded a million pounds. An interesting fact was that the creator of the royal courts died a year before the completion of construction. Perhaps the problems with the building were the cause of death.
