ETON COLLEGE

In the picture we can see the Eton College. It's one of the oldest men's school in England. The building is made from red and white bricks. In the middle it's a little tower. In the square in front of the college there is a sculpture. The person from the statue is Henry III who founded this school in 1440.🤴🏻 He is wearing a royal clothes and he's holding a scepter. On the photo the weather is really nice. The sun is shining, but there is wet all around.☀️
The history of the Eton College is really interesting. King HenryVI founded this school. The College were only for boys, aged from 13 to 18 from many social groups. It was learning there only 70 people from the countryside and few students which were living in the city. The richer ones (Oppidans) had to pay for the school💰, but the poorer ones (Collegers) were learning for free. The Eton College raised many famous politics (English prime ministers:Prince Wellington and David Cameron), writers (for example: George Orwell, Jan Fleming), soliders, oficers, scientists, inventors and fashion designers!
Nowadays in Eton College is learning about 1300 boys (15% of them are foreigners). Their motto is „Floreat Etona”. They are traditionalists. They are wearing the same uniforms as 600 years ago. It's a black tail-coat, vest, striped trousers, white tie and for special occasions cylinders.🎩 They must learn traditional languages: Latin and Greek. Antient history is obligatory for everyone, too. Every year they are celebrating King George III fest. He was often guest in Eton College. He knew teachers and students. In his honor is organizing a picnic with champange and traditional dessert called Eton Mess. It's made from strawberries, crushed meringue and cream or ice cream. In the picnic there is a cricket tournament, speeches and boat cruises.⛵
The Eton College is divided into the Long Building, Lower School and Lupton's Tower. The college is a boarding school near the main building. Students are living there, but they can't do what they want. The head teacher decided to make a „quiet hour” when boys must learning and doing homework. They are monitored all day. Near the school there is chapel, too.⛪ It's so beautiful! It has got many antique paintings on the walls.
The Eton College is place with an unusual history. It's an amazing school where young boys can learn about English traditions and history. They can bacame clever and responsible there, too.
